Big Head Homeschool

Every family has their own reasons for choosing to homeschool.  Our desire for homeschooling began way before we had our daughter.  We worked at a children's home and noticed that a good amount of the children that came into our program were significantly behind in school. Some High Schoolers read at a 3rd grade level (some worse!).  

 

At the same time we noticed some of our friends/co-workers as they homeschooled their own kids. We were impressed with their education and their way of interacting with peers and adults.  Soon after that we began teaching at the school on property (which is very close to a homeschooling set up) and we loved watching our students succeed and soar above anything they could have ever imagined.

 

By this time we were quite sure we wanted to homeschool if we were blessed with a child. Most importantly, we came to the conclusion that we wanted to be the biggest influence in our child's life and be in control of her education 

(oh, and go on vacation whenever we want!).  

 

Whichever your reasons for homeschooling are, we are sure that the sacrifices you make are not in vain.  If you are looking into homeschooling and are wondering if this is the right thing for your family, please do not be discouraged! If you are considering it, then it is most likely the right choice!  

 

There are many resources to help you get started and there is a great community of homeschoolers willing to help.  It takes courage, discipline, time, patience, and sacrifice to homeschool, but, oh, it's sooooooo worth it!
