This book is book number one of the Bible Belle Series. In Hannah The Belle of Prayer, Rooney Cruz is not having a great day, and she is being teased by some girls in school. As she runs to a quiet spot to gather her thoughts, an angel appears and takes Rooney into a journey that will change her perspective and life. Here is where the fabulous (and hard) biblical story of Hannah comes in.
Our thoughts on the book:
The story of a young girl like Rooney (an average sort of girl) is relatable, and this makes it engaging to most young girls. The "lingo" is modern throughout the book, but the Bible story remains true to its Biblical interpretation. The lesson Rooney learns (and the one being taught to the readers) is about real, modern day heroes. It is refreshing to see a story for young girls that teaches valuable lessons from a biblical perspective and encourages them to work towards good character regardless of their external influences.
My daughter said that she wants more stories, and was happy to learn that there is another book about Esther and more to come!
I personally liked the illustrations very much. The colorful pages transferred me back to my young reading years! The pages are not conglomerated and the letters are easy to read. Both my daughter and I agree that this would be a very good, practical, and fun book to give as a gift! It reaches out to girls from all kinds of backgrounds and walks of life! It is great for a girl you know is in need of encouragement too!
